Maggie Baugh's website biography describes her as singing superstar Keith Urban's "utility player."
“Most recently, Baugh caught the attention of Keith Urban, who asked her to join him on tour as his utility player,” the bio says. Indeed, Baugh has been touring with Urban for months, judging from photos of them on stage together on Getty Images and the concert videos on her Instagram page.
One clip in particular drew attention: a video Baugh posted of Urban changing the lyrics to his song ‘The Fighter’ — originally written as an ode to then-wife Nicole Kidman and once performed with Carrie Underwood — to include her name. A few days later, Kidman filed for divorce. While the two events may be unrelated, the timing has fans raging and people speculating.
Through it all, Baugh and Urban have maintained public silence on the lyric controversy. However, now, according to TMZ, Baugh's dad is weighing in.
According to the outlet, Chuck Baugh "shared a TikTok on his Facebook" of a video making accusations about his daughter and Urban.
"NO. Just No," he wrote, according to TMZ. However, TMZ noted that the full context of Chuck Baugh's alleged comment is not clear.
Complex has reached out to Chuck Baugh seeking comment.
The post is not publicly visible on Chuck's Facebook page, where he frequently expresses pride over his daughter's rising country music career. His top visible post, from August 2, shows his daughter standing in front of the Grand Ole Opry.
Maggie posted the video of Urban changing the lyrics of the song to her Instagram page along with the caption, "Did he just say that,” with an eye emoji.
Urban sang, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.”
Maggie's Instagram page contains other videos showing her singing on stage with Urban and playing the violin, although there is no evidence of anything more than a professional relationship between them.
