Since emerging in 2020 with some well-aimed singles in his teens, including breakout drop “Never Hiding”, North London’s Zakhar has kept the pedal firmly on the metal.
Last year, the singer-songwriter wowed fans and critics alike with his debut project, Scars On My Mind, and this year he’s maintained with a four-part series of singles that began with “My One” in February and continued with April’s “Find You”.
We’ve now got the third part in the story, “Overready”, a soulful track packed with warmth and anticipation thanks to the comparatively upbeat production from Morten Lava. In this chapter of the tale, Zakhar speaks of his devotion to that special person in his life, despite hitting a rocky patch he wishes they could return from.
Sharing his own thoughts on the track, Zakhar writes: “‘Overready’ is the third of a four-part story line featuring the first song ‘My One’, about finding yourself when meeting the so-called one, and ‘Find You’ is the deeper feeling. The last song, ‘Party On Your Own’, is where we come to an end, when you wanna do things by yourself. ‘Overready’ is before the end, and it’s about me more than ready to go back to how me and the girl used to be.”
