Still reeling from the release of his third full-length album, This Is What I Mean, Stormzy has just dropped off visuals for its title track.
Testing the mettle of his video team, the video combines artful shots of Jacob Collier delivering the hook with high-intensity live footage taken from the album’s release party—shot just a couple of days before the video’s release.
Pieced together by Dir.Lx, we’re thrown from pillar to post, between serenity and chaos, as Big Mikey walks the fine tightrope between the two and drafts in Amaarae, Black Sherif, Ms Banks and STORRY to help relay the message.
While the rest of the album has been celebrated for its development of Stormzy’s more melodic side and his love of gospel and soul, this was one of the few out-and-out rap tracks. A lone piece of mosh-pit fuel on the album, you didn’t need the sweat-splashed visuals to teach you that, but they’ve certainly given us a major case of FOMO.
