Kaizen, the label founded and run by Manchester selector Madam X, is making the final preparations for the release of Murdah, the new EP from grime-inspired producer Walton. We say "grime-inspired", but judging by EP excerpt "Submerged", those influences are taking a back seat this time round to make space for more techno-focused sounds. "Submerged" still features a lot of grimey elements in the charging drum patterns and eerie siren floating through the mix but that's about as far as it goes on that front. Added to that are Walton's use of wide open spaces and glowering, techy darkness to give us a marriage between the seemingly disparate worlds of London and Detroit.

Speaking with Complex via email, Walton told us: "With this EP I went down more of a dark techno and club-orientated direction, moving away from the far Eastern/sino grime sounds on my last LP."

Look out for the Murdah EP when it drops April 26.
