Bassline’s been enjoying a bit of a renaissance lately, and not just on its home turf. All across the country (and beyond), ravers have been indulging in the big, bouncy Northern sound.

One person who’s always worked hard to push the sound far and wide is producer, selector and radio host Toddla T, who recently connected with a rising talent on the bassline scene, S-Dog, for a joint EP titled Estate Royalty, which arrives today alongside the video for “B22s”.

“B22s” is a burst of jet-fuel energy and free-wheeling, unpretentious fun. As the title suggests, S-Dog’s Dior B22s feature prominently, but this is as much about celebrating Yorkshire and what he calls the “charva lifestyle”. Matching that larger-than-life energy, director Gregor Davies-Ratcliffe has pieced together a video that has S-Dog as a towering presence, striding over the Yorkshire dales in his bright pink Avirex and, of course, his B22s.

Sharing his thoughts on the EP and how it came together, S-Dog told Complex: “For this EP, I wanted to stay true to who I am as an artist, but also step things up and explore new ground. Toddla T is the most exciting producer around right now, so when we first linked and he came back saying he was game to do more, I was gassed, and it felt only right that we try put a proper joint collaborative project together.

“This anthem came together in the early stages of producing the EP. Dior’s B22s are my favourite shoes of all time, but other than hyping up my favourite kicks, “B22s” was birthed with two joint missions: firstly, to celebrate the importance of Yorkshire in the history of bassline, the true home and heart of the sound, scene and culture from the very start, and secondly, to prove that right now, as people chat about the resurgence of the sound, there’s only one town that is running things, and that is Bradford.”

As for the rest of the EP, expect plenty of boisterous low-end thump—plus contributions from DJ Q and Unique 3. Press play on video for “B22s” exclusively above and then dig into the rest of the Estate Royalty EP below.
