Half-French, half-Swiss singer, songwriter and producer Niels is kicking off the year with a new single, “Old Flame”, and the promise that his third mixtape is on the way.
He’s remaining tight-lipped on the tape for now, but this new single arrives after a busy 2023 in which the Shoreditch-based artist dropped off a new single almost every month since June, at least some of which will make their way onto the tape.
“Old Flame” sees him reconnect with LA-based Nigerian collective Irie Sessions, the production team he last worked with on “Move Slow”, one of the tracks that kicked off this tidal wave of productivity.
Smooth, seductive and with more than a little sultry heat, it packs a lot of the same simmering intensity that made “Move Slow” such a winner and suggests the rest of the tape could hold even more slow-burning R&B.
