Brighton producer Etch is just about to drop a new EP on Sneaker Social Club that sees him team up with one of our favourite MCs in the current grime scene, Nico Lindsay. The whole SNKR020 project is a real masterclass in the outer reaches of grime's weirder moments. Built around a back-to-basics combination of classic grime stabs, sine waves and square waves, around that Etch adds jumpy Amen breaks, noisy walls of distortion and dubby, sprawling empty spaces.
Our personal highlight would have to be the UK funky-tinged "Don't Wanna Know", an immensely quotable lyrical workout that features Nico laying waste to all the negative influences that can invade your space in the music industry.
