AYLØ

Last month, AYLØ, a rising star in the alté scene (a fusion sound of the myriad genres pulsing through Nigeria and West Africa), shared "Paris!" a new track that signaled the imminent arrival of his upcoming DNT DLT project. Now we have "Sassy", the second taste of the project and it's hitting all the right notes.

Flawlessly smooth from start to finish, "Sassy" shows off AYLØ's stunning vocal range, charming songwriting and deeply soulful production as he champions femininity and womanhood in 2019 with the help of fellow alté stars Fasina and PsychoYP. The new track continues the paths opened up by its equally smooth predecessor, but opens it up even further with sonic textures that hint at an album that could end up being his crowning achievement so far.

Speaking with Complex via email, AYLØ told us: "It is sort of an ode to feminine sass. The chase they make you chase. Knowing fully well that this is 2019 and we no longer condone intimacy, relationships, or the idea of marriage as a concept that renders a woman subservient and, in essence, a slave. God is a woman — in all her excesses. Perfect in definition. I don't know what PsychoYP and Fasina were talking about, I think that's their take on it as well."
