Three and a half years on from the last edition, Astral Black is about to drop FRASS FM VI, a 14-track trip through the frequencies, from hazy grime to knuckle-whitening jungle. Ahead of the new comp’s official release tomorrow, September 8, Jon Phonics and the team have shared one of its highlights, DJ Milktray’s “Just Like Magic”.
It’s a timely release from Astral Black; the label celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and since it’s such a momentous occasion, the new comp’s tracklist features some of the label’s oldest friends and family members, including Jossy Mitsu, SusTrapperazzi, Xao, Bruised Skies & THUGWIDOW. Alongside those veterans, FRASS FM VI also includes some newer faces like Will Lister & Poison Zcora, NIGELTHREETIMES, JULESWEAT, and more.
Another long-time affiliate of the label, Milktray’s been linked with Astral Black for years now, ever since the All Because The Lady Loves EP (he also appeared on the very first FRASS FM the same year). Fittingly, “Just Like Magic” is classic Milktray territory, flipping Ariana Grande into a pitched-up, space-age club sparkler.
