Between drill’s hi-hat triplets and Jersey Club’s frenetic rhythms, it was only a matter of time before someone started to stitch the two together. Producers have been playing around with that combo for a little while, to varying degrees of success, but Nemzzz’s new tune “ABC” might be the best example we’ve heard yet.
Producer Young Chencs deserves credit for the beat, seamlessly blending the two elements for a punchy, energetic and creative take on both sounds. Just as engaging are the visuals from Blue Boredom, taking us on a fast-paced tour of his haunts, from the barbershop to the high-end spaces his music has landed him in.
After the runaway success of “Elevate” last year, the Mancunian rhymer has done well to capitalise with hits like “2MS” at the top of this year and a standout appearance on the “DND” remix by another rising talent, KidWild.
