This September will mark 10 years since Nigerian singer-songwriter Kizz Daniel released his debut single, “Woju”. It didn’t take him long to get a footing in the industry and to celebrate a decade of making music, he’s released a four-track EP, titled TZA.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for the star known on home turf as Vado. 2022’s “Buga” was described by the Nigerian president himself as the country’s second national anthem, and that same year Kizz performed with Diplo and Calvin Harris at the 2022 World Cup opening ceremony.

Short for ‘Thankz Alot’, the EP contains previously released singles “Twe Twe” and “Too Busy To Be Bae”, along with two new jams: “Sooner” and “Showa”. Sourcing production from Reward Beatz, AyZed, P.Prime, Killertunes and Blaise Beatz, the EP balances Afrobeats and pop with a rousing, almost hymnal quality to stir the soul.

Speaking exclusively to Complex UK, Daniel shares: “The inspiration for TZA stems from a deep appreciation for the fans' unwavering support and love. Vado Nation has kept the support alive for Kizz Daniel since the beginning, and I figured this was a great way to appreciate them all.

“I’ve been doing this professionally for 10 years, and I’ve had the undying support of everyone that has shown me love, so this project is a thank you message to them to appreciate them for all the love they’ve shown me through the ups and downs of my career. I’m looking to drop an album some time this year, and TZA is a prelude to that.

“The creative process for each song was deeply personal and I was very much involved in every process. There was a lot of tweaking here and there to make sure that each and every track properly conveyed the message I envisioned while writing them. It all took a lot of patience from everyone involved, and a special thanks to my producers, P Priime, Ayzed and Reward Beatz.”

To round off the celebrations, Kizz will be touching down in London for a show at the OVO Arena on May 6. Until then, dive into the new EP below.
