American trio Exmag today released their new EP, The Walls That Divide Us, having previously released the project's lead single "Zoonis 1". The four-track drop focuses around the three-piece's love of funk bass lines and disco magic, with just a hint of prog rock thrown in along the way. "Open Your Arms", for example, brings in a stadium-filling guitar riff that almost comes out of nowhere after the funk-filled R&B grooves that came before. The EP was, they say, inspired by a comic book the band were writing, detailing the story of "a dying planet seated in a dark corner of the Cygnus constellation". There are plenty more surprises though, more than you'd expect from just four tracks.
