A rising star on the 0207 Def Jam roster, and one of the label’s first signees, Debbie continues to shine with her new single, “It’s Been A Week”.

The new track adds to an admirable and growing catalogue that she first kicked off with her debut (and breakout) single, “Is This Real Love?” Since then, all eyes have been on the young talent who writes with a wisdom far beyond her years.

“It’s Been A Week”, however, comes from the perspective of someone who’d spent their youth imagining what that first love would feel like. However, now that they’ve finally experienced it—and the pain that comes once it’s over—she has to come to terms with the reality, dust herself off, and lick her wounds.

“I always wanted to experience romantic love growing up,” says Debbie. “I think it’s because I was quite isolated and the only example of romance I had was TV and movies. Unfortunately, that led me to some dumb decisions, as I was kinda naive to the reality of finding ‘true love’. ‘It’s Been A Week’ is a reflection, albeit a dramatic one, of pain and regret I was feeling with one particular lover. I was just expressing myself and escaping.”

Take in “It’s Been A Week” and be sure to add the song to your playlists.
