With Notting Hill Carnival now in the rearview mirror, we are officially in the twilight of summer, but it’s not quite over yet. Keen to keep the party going, rising UK rapper-singer bib sama has just dropped off the video for his new single, “Baefriend”.
The London-born artist has been on the come-up for a little while now; he dropped his debut mixtape, PLATINUS ✧, last year and sold out Peckham Audio soon after. All eyes have been on him ever since, and this new track looks like it could be his breakout smash.
Heavily inspired by video game soundtracks and anime, it’s a sound he describes as “nu-grime”, while others have compared him to people like JPEGMAFIA and Lancey Foux. Either way, he’s drawing an impassioned following that looks certain to grow beyond cult status.
