The soundtrack for new BBC series Champion has been released and each track has been performed by the show’s stars: Malcolm Kamulete, Corz, and Ray BLK. Inspired by the lineage of Black British music that inspired the show’s creator, best-selling author Candice Carty-Williams, who grew up in South London, getting Champion’s soundtrack right was imperative.

“Working on the music for the show was the best part for me,” Carty-Williams said in a recent interview with the UK music/culture platform TRENCH. “Books were the beginning, and TV is now this part, but music has been the biggest part of my life.” The music-based drama is also set to hit Netflix on January 11, 2024.

Ghetts and Ray BLK, the latter of whom also stars in the show as Honey, were signed on as music execs and they’re both credited as writers across the soundtrack. They weren’t the only big-name talents guiding the sound of the show, either. M1llionz, Shola Ama and Debbie have been drafted in as contributors and Ceebeaats is among the credited producers.

Champion is available to watch on BBC iPlayer now, and you can listen to the official soundtrack in full after the jump.
