Intro

Courtney Love has been through a lot. According to her mom, her father gave her LSD when she was four years old. Love once claimed that the hallucinogen "freed her mind." We're not so sure.

By the time she was 14, Courtney was already getting in trouble. She bounced around foster homes and correctional facilities until age 16, when she moved to Portland and worked as an exotic dancer. She eventually got into music and started making some progress, but even as she rose into the spotlight, tragedy always played a central role in her story.

From her husband Kurt Cobain's suicide to her ongoing struggle with drugs and issues with her daughter Frances, Courtney has dealt with enough drama to make a woman go crazy. Judging by some of her stories, that may be exactly what happened.

This weekend, for the first time in 15 years, Courtney Love got back on stage with Hole. The reunion comes on the heels of some negative attention for Love's latest Twitter tirade involving Frances and Dave Grohl, and with that, we decided to take a look back at the History of Courtney Love's Craziest Moments...

Heroin

Shooting Heroin at Charlie Sheen's House

Year: 1990s

What happened? After watching both of these high-profile celebrities unravel in the public eye, it makes sense that their insanity crossed paths at some point. Love revealed that back in the '90s, her love affair with heroin began one night at Charlie Sheen's mansion.

"A Hollywood-connected beau took me to this star-studded party at Charlie Sheen's house in Malibu," she recalled. "Tom Cruise was there, and Madonna ... [singer Jennifer Linch] convinced me to shoot up. 'Come on, everyone's doing it.' So that's when my whole heroin drama began."

Madge

Crashing Madonna's Interview at the VMAs

Year: 1995

What happened? When Kurt Loder was interviewing Madonna at the 1995 MTV Video Music Awards, some yelling going on in the background caught his attention. When he realized it was Courtney Love, he invited her up to join in on the interview. The obviously intoxicated Courtney took Mr. Loder up on that offer, and what went down was one of the weirdest train wrecks ever caught on VMA cameras.

Watch it go down here.

Oscar

Threatening A Journalist with Quentin Tarantino's Oscar

Year: 1995

What happened? Lynn Hirschberg was a journalist responsible for a story in Vanity Fair that claimed Courtney Love had used heroin while pregnant. Courtney had openly expressed how pissed off she was about this article, which she maintained was false. When she finally came face-to-face with Hirschberg at an Oscars after party, she didn't hold back. She grabbed the nearest thing around and attacked. The nearest thing around happened to be Quentin Terrantino's Oscar.

Breaking

Breaking, Entering, and Overdosing

Year: 2003

What happened? In October of '03, Love was caught by cops breaking the windows and entering the home of her boyfriend/manager Jim Barber. Love said she paid for the home, but she was still charged for being under the influence of a controlled substance. She was released on bail, and just hours later she had to be treated for an Oxycontin overdose.

Britney

Claiming That Britney Spears Was Molested By Her Father

Year: 2009

What happened? In this peculiar rant, Love took to Facebook to make the claim that Britney Spears was molested by her father. The barely-decipherable post was one of her strangest (and it was soon dismissed by Spears reps.)

It reads: "britneys dad molested her, imagine the father that molested you owning you for slavery while your forced to sing songs picked for their sexual content every night, insane right? i have it on First had authority, and fight as hard as she is and does she still didnt pull that card, its a pride thing i can relate to, However they want to play dirty, lets go, Im SO not affraid of the little trolls who hit this when i was f***** up who are called lawyers. lets GO."

Killing

Possibly Killing Her Daughter's Pets

Year: 2009

What happened? Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain's daughter Frances has always kept pretty quiet about issues with her mother, but it has been impossible to hide all the drama. In 2009, she filed for a restraining order that would keep her mother away from her and her pets. In the report, Frances said that her cat died after being crushed by piles of trash hoarded by Love. Even worse, she claimed that the dog died after eating pills left out by Courtney.

Bikini

Getting A Bikini Wax In A Room Full Of Journalists

Year: 2010

What happened? Determined to make a comeback, Love invited some journalists from Q magazine over to spend some time with her and put together a story. Not surprisingly, they got more than they bargained for. Courtney underwent a Brazilian wax in front of them, poured a bottle of champagne over herself, and then abandoned the photo shoot to run naked down the street.

Jewels

Losing Over $100,000 Worth Of Jewelry

Year: 2010

What happened? "Jacob the Jeweler" is one of the go-to guys for expensive jewelry fit for celebrities, and in 2010 Courtney paid him a visit to pick up some items. She ended up leaving with more than $100,000 worth of necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Jacob never got his jewelry back, so he sued. Courtney's excuse? "I lost it."

Fire

Setting Her Apartment On Fire

Year: 2011

What happened? In 2011, Courtney Love's landlord wasn't too happy with her. She was already $54,000 behind on rent for her luxury townhouse, but in typical Courtney fashion, she took the situation to extremes. In December, a fire started in her bedroom and the fire department had to come and put out the flames, which had spread to the curtains and bed linens. The landlord moved forward with the eviction process after determining that the damage to Love's spot was equal to about $100,000.

Cobain

Spazzing On A Kurt Cobain Fan

Year: 2011

What happened? During a 2011 Hole show, someone in the crowd held up a picture of Kurt Cobain. Bad move. Courtney called the fan "stupid" and "rude," and threatened to "beat the fuck" out of the audience member. That alone might have been an understandable reaction, but then Courtney went on to somehow flip her reaction into a Dave Grohl diss, telling the fan, "You weren't kicked out of a band by Kurt like Dave was... if you want to do that shit go to a Foo Fighters concert!" Courtney then flipped off the crowd and stormed off.

Muppets

Accusing The Muppets Of "Raping The Memory Of Kurt Cobain"

Year: 2012

What happened? In their most recent movie, The Muppets cover Nirvana's classic hit, "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Apparently Courtney Love was less than impressed. She claimed that she never gave permission for them to use the song, but then it was revealed later that the company Primary Wave had the rights to distribute it and they approved the use. Not only that, but surviving Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic had also given the go-ahead. Nevertheless Courtney made her disappointment known, saying that the muppets had "raped" the memory of Kurt Cobain.

Dave

Accusing Dave Grohl Of Hitting On Her Daughter

Year: 2012

What happened? Courtney Love took to her personal, private Twitter account to say that she had heard Dave Grohl (Kurt Cobain's ex-bandmate) was hitting on Frances Bean Cobain (her daughter with Kurt). "I'm not mad at her," she wrote. "Him, I'm about to shoot, dead." Frances later issued a statement denying her mom's claims, calling the tirade "gross," and adding, "Twitter should band my mother."

Days later, Courtney apologized to her daughter on Twitter, saying, "Bean, sorry I believed the gossip. Mommy loves you."
