Glastonbury Festival Cancelled Amid Coronavirus Concerns
Another one down.
Just when we thought 2020 couldn't get any worse due to the COVID-19 pandemic, yet another major music event has been cancelled.
The world-famous Glastonbury festival, which has been headlined by everyone from Jay-Z and Beyonce to Stormzy and Kanye West, announced today that the weekender will be rescheduled until next year. This year would have also been the festival's 50th anniversary.
More than 200,000 people, including 135,000 ticket-holders, were expected to gather on Worthy Farm in Somerset from June 24-28, with some of the biggest acts in the world such as Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa set to perform on the infamous Pyramid Stage.
Glastonbury organisers made the decision to cancel before April 1, when festival-goers were expected to pay their remaining balance of £270 for their tickets. Organisers said, "refunds will be made available for those who want them. We're so sorry this decision has been made. It was not through choice."
