South London rap outfit D-Block Europe—aka Young Adz and Dirtbike LB—have returned with their second studio album, Lap 5, and to mark the occasion they’ve shared the music video for one if its standout cuts, “4 The Win”.
The 16-track offering puts DBE’s journey into perspective, charting their impressive ascent to dominance in the UK and acknowledging their desire to bring this to a global scale. The album is also a testament to Adz and LB’s consistency over the last five summers, providing a combination of fresh sonics and catchy lyrics that has cemented their place in the pantheon of UK rap.
Lap 5 features hits that we’ve heard already, such as “Elegant & Gang”, “Fantasy” and “Black Beatles”, as well as new tracks featuring heavyweights Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran (“She’s Not Any One” and “Lonely Lovers”, respectively). These tracks explore a more introspective and emotional side to the duo’s lyricism, a recurring theme on the project and a refreshing development of DBE’s artistry.
Set to perform at the rap festival Rolling Loud in New York tonight, with two headline shows at the O2 next month and a European tour next year, D-Block Europe have made it very clear that despite being on Lap 5, they have no plans of slowing down.
