He's Working In A Proper Studio Now
After recording 2008's Wavves and 2009's Wavvves on his laptop, Nathan Williams became known for his signature lo-fi sound. With this year's King of the Beach, he's trying to distance himself from that sound. Nathan worked with Modest Mouse producer Dennis Herring for three months in early 2010 and switched his style up. "A lot more effort went into this than with previous Wavves records."

He's Playing With A New Band
Although he's a solo act, it takes a band to replicate the Wavves sound on stage. After onstage spats with former drummer Ryan Ulsh, Nathan began touring with Billy Hayes and Stephen Pope, who played with the late Jay Reatard. Many people still look at Wavves and Nathan Williams as interchangeable entities, but with the new members writing and recording a couple songs on the upcoming album, that might begin to change.
