Homophobia in hip-hop has existed for a long time. This generation's new crop of MC's like, A$AP Rocky, seem like they would be more tolerant to the issue, though. Don't get it twisted, Rocky is straight, but he feels there is too much emphasis on the situation and people should be more open-minded.
He recently told Spinner that not doing so could "cause the genre to fail" and hip-hop is "retarded" for not wanting to accept anything.
Just refrain from being lame and keep it cool, people.
