It looks like SZA’s back in the studio.
The leading lady of TDE took to Instagram early Tuesday morning to share a snippet of a song. The track plays in the background while she’s driving in a car, alongside the caption, “Riding w new thoughts.”
The preview arrives on the same day as SZA’s video for Billboard’s 2018 Women in Music Event, which honors women in the music industry. This year’s event will be held in New York City on Dec. 6 and hosted by Ellie Goulding.
In Billboard’s video, SZA speaks on her childhood memories, family members who had an impact on her, and guidance for her younger self.
“If I could give my younger self any advice, it would probably be to trust yourself—or not try so hard to fit in,” SZA says in the video. “I was so different that I think trying to fit in at all was so obviously painful. ... I was definitely designed to experience life the way I was supposed to experience it.”
On Thursday, SZA will be granted the Rulebreaker Award, which “recognizes female artists who use their music and platform to defy traditional industry expectations and advance a powerful message for young people,” Billboard shared. SZA’s contributions to modern R&B, her Grammy Awards sweep for Ctrl, and her top slot on TDE’s Championship Tour also contributed to her winning the award.
