Two people were killed and at least seven others were injured Friday night when gunmen opened fire during a music video shoot in the Houston area.

According to the Chronicle, the incident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. local time in a parking lot in north Harris County. Authorities described the drive-by shooting as an "ambush."

"Basically they were ambushed, we believe by individuals in cars and/or foot," Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said during a press brief. "... We don't know if any gunshots were exchanged or anything like that. We don’t know if there was a beef going on or what exactly happened; that'll be part of the investigation."

Gonzalez told reporters there was "evidence of firearms at the scene" of the rap video shoot, but could not confirm whether the incident was gang-related. He also did not name the group that was filming the video, and said authorities have not received any descriptions of the gunmen or any vehicles they may have been driving.

The deceased victims have since been identified as 20-year-old Gonzalo Gonzalez and 22-year-old Jonathan Jimenez. Gonzalez described the other victims as younger Latino males in their early 20s. One of the survivors is in critical condition, the other six remained hospitalized.

Sheriff Gonzalez is urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston.

"Anybody that was out here, they need to speak up," he said. "We need some leads right now."
