Eminem may be one of the hardest-working rappers in the game.

Over the past two decades, the Detroit MC has been widely praised for his above-and-beyond work ethic and commitment to his craft. Everyone from Joell Ortiz and Akon to T.I. and Cole Bennett have commented on Em’s meticulous approach to music-making as well as his high expectations and standards.

This was further highlighted during Bizarre’s appearance on the Bootleg Kev Podcast, where he discussed his experience working with Em during their D12 days.

“It was a lot of work, man,” Bizarre shared. “It’s a lot of work. I think we had fun after the studio, but, shit, you know—being in the studio with Em, man, sometimes you might could be in the booth for five, six hours doing one verse over.”

“He was such a perfectionist,” the host added.

“Yeah, he was on your ass,” Bizarre continued. “I remember one time he got so sick with it, man, I went home and he wanted me to do some ad-libs over. And I guess he couldn’t wait for me, so when I came back the next day, he had did ’em for me. … He sounded just like me, my voice. I was like, ‘Bro, you are sick.’”

Bizarre went on to say Eminem was always trying to improve his rhymes, and urged him to try to do the same.

“I remember some advice that he gave me that I never followed, but I should’ve followed this shit,” he recalled “He said, ‘Man, sometimes just go over the verses over and over again when you take it home. And ask yourself, ‘Did I say the dopest line right here? Could I have said something better right here? And if you think you could’ve, you know what I’m saying, come back and do it.’ But I never listened to him[laughs]. I was like, ‘Fuck that, I’m going back to the hotel.’”

The rapper also discusses Elzhi almost joining D12, the group’s beef with Insane Clown Posse, Em’s feud with Machine Gun Kelly, and 50 Cent signing to Shady Records. Check out another clip below, and see the rest on Bootleg Kev’s YouTube channel.
