Big Sean is in a generous mood.

Hours after releasing "Overtime," his first solo single of 2019, the rapper confirmed he was dropping more music ahead of the weekend. Sean preceded the announcement with a series of tweets in which he reflected on a previous relationship—presumably with Jhené Aiko—and transitioning into single life.

"I never knew that I didn’t know how to be alone in life," he tweeted Thursday night. "I always would find so much joy n happiness in a relationship or being with friends, but I didn’t know how important it was to be in a relationship with yourself."

Sean continued:

There’s beauty in being your own source of happiness and fun and working on yourself. That’s the process I been going through personally and it can be a scary thing.

But when you work on yourself and bring your best self to something, I believe that’s truly how to experience a love where you are bringing happiness and joy and not dependency.

I’m in a great place though n don’t want to get too deep but I just want to share my journey with y’all...

Sean then revealed the cover art for a new track called "Single Again." The cover featured the message: "I've decided to take my time and get it right. Work on myself and wake up and smell the roses."

The track features vocals from Aiko and Ty Dolla Sign, with co-production by Big Sean, Take a Daytrip, Dee Lilly, and Cam O'bi.

On the track, Sean raps:

Honestly, all the disrespect god damn near ruined me
All the trust gone, seem's like all you say is "prove it to me"
And you know I second line, don't go do it to me
Maybe 'cause my mama never worked it out with my dad
Maybe 'cause she had insecurities and she had 'em bad
Maybe 'cause single parallel was all I ever had

You can stream "Single Again" now on Apple Music and Spotify.

The 31-year-old artist has been teasing his fifth solo album, Don Life, throughout 2019. During a recent interview with Zane Lowe, Sean shed some light on what fans could expect from his upcoming music. And it sounds like his Day 1s will be pleased.

"I just been returning to my roots, bro," Sean said. "I’ve just been getting back to having fun with it. At one point, I felt like it might have started to become like a burden, or like work, but now it’s just fun. So this is just me having fun bro, expressing myself. It was a time well spent."

Prior to the song's release, Big Sean tweeted lyrics from the song, which prompted a fan to make a snide comment about Aiko's feature. After a fan alluded to the idea that Sean was responsible for his breakup with the singer, he replied, "She’s amazing! I didn’t fumble anything but I can see from how things can look from the outside looking in. It’s all love though, that’s what you don’t understand."
