Exclusive: Behind The Scenes At The 2019 JUNO Awards

Canada’s annual Juno Awards took over London, Ontario on Sunday night with a star-studded bash honouring the very best in Canadian music. Beloved Canadian songstress Sarah McLachlan took the reins as host of this year's televised Juno Awards, which finished off the biggest weekend in the Canadian music industry.

The Junos, which are commonly referred to as the Canadian Grammys, are actually handed out on Saturday and Sunday evening events. On Saturday (March 16), the majority of gold statues were handed out, while a handful of accolades were reserved for the televised ceremony on Sunday (March 17).

Throughout the weekend, Shawn Mendes won five Junos, conquering both the Album and Artist of the Year categories at Sunday night's televised ceremony. Tory Lanez won Rap Recording of the Year, the Arkells won the best group trophy, Bulow won the best breakthrough artist for 2019, while Post Malone won International Album of the Year. Avril Lavigne picked up the Fan Choice award, beating out Mendes, Alessia Cara and The Weeknd.

During Sunday night's much-hyped televised awards ceremony, 1980s pop heartthrob Corey Hart was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Toronto-based photographer Matt Barnes was behind the scenes at both the Juno Gala Dinner & Awards on Saturday night and the televised Juno Awards on Sunday night capturing Canada’s very best as they stepped off the stage.
