Fresh off teaming up with the Alchemist for their collaborative project ContinuanceCurrensy celebrates 4/20 by delivering a few classic mixtapes cuts in the latest edition of NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series.

Backed by a purple candy-coated 1965 Chevy Impala, Currensy runs through five tracks spread across four fan favorite tapes: 2010’s Pilot Talk (“Address,” “Breakfast”) and Pilot Talk II (“Airborne Aquarium”), 2012’s Cigarette Boats (“Sixty-Seven Turbo Jet”), and 2013’s New Jet City (“Mary”).

The set arrives over two years after Currensy expressed his desire to perform a Tiny Desk Concert and spark one up. “I wanna roll some fatties on Tiny Desk and smoke it out,” he wrote on Twitter in October 2019.

Back in February, the New Orleans rapper linked with the Alchemist for Continuance, the pair’s third full-length offering following 2011’s Covert Coup and 2016’s The Carrollton Heist.

The 13-track album features guest appearances from Wiz KhalifaBoldy JamesBabyface Ray, Styles P, Havoc, and Larry June, with Complex’s 2021 Best Hip-Hop Producer Alive handling the production on all 13 songs.

“After I sat down and listened to all records me and Alchemist lined up I was like nah man. We gotta rename this shit right?,” he tweeted in the lead up to its release. “This is covert coup level music and thus we have ‘Continuance’ y’all gonna love this shit.
