Taylor Swift

It’s clear Taylor Swift knows how to work her audience. No one has stopped talking about her since she went dark on social media last week, only to start teasing her new album. Unfortunately for her, no one is really into it. From trying to “own” the snake thing to pinning herself as the victim yet again, people seemed to be done with Taylor’s antics surrounding the issue.

However, even the biggest Swift-hater can admit she’s released a decent amount of bangers, and I think deep down we were all hoping for a new hit to take us through the end of the summer.

We were wrong. So wrong. Swift’s lyric video for "Look What You Made Me Do" dropped last night just before midnight, but instead of a fire flames Taylor single we got bootleg versions of 2001 Gwen Stefani, 2006 Fergie, and 1993 Tim Burton. With lines like, “Maybe I got mine, but you’ll all get yours,” Taylor’s out-of-character lyrics feel inappropriately dark considering most people think she’s taking shots at Kanye West and Kim Kardashian for what went down last year.

If you need me I’ll be listening to Kanye, Calvin Harris, and Katy Perry all day, but here’s how the rest of the internet feels about the debut:

you know when they let reality stars do one single?
I need new Kanye music just to blast over this Taylor Swift trash. #LookWhatYouMadeMeDo pic.twitter.com/WtcGQVhvFn
kinda wish the old Taylor would come to the phone
As someone prone to extreme secondhand embarrassment, I'm finding this new Taylor Swift era to be nearly unbearable.

Just when we thought the “Look What You’ve Made Me Do” saga was just about the song itself, it was announced Taylor would debut the full video at this Sunday’s VMAs… which will hosted by her “Bad Blood” nemesis Katy Perry.

However, the internet seems to care less about Taylor’s new work than they do her weird hairstyle and apparent knock-off of Beyoncé’s “Formation" in the preview of her upcoming video:

Spoiler alert: Look What You Made Me Do is just an angry letter to the hairstylist who said "Try a feathered perm; it'll be amazing." pic.twitter.com/aYASP4W1Vt

Of course, not everyone hated Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do.” Her beloved Swifties will stan for her for all of eternity:

literally about to tattoo taylor swift is a GENIUS across my forehead #TS6 #Repuation #LOOKWHATYOUMADEMEDO

However you feel about it, at least we can all agree Taylor Swift’s new song was a break from the racist homophobe occupying space in the White House right now.

tbh Taylor-Twitter gave us a short break from Trump-Twitter so it's the most beautiful song I've ever heard in my life.
