Punch called out DJ Vlad after the media personality questioned why the Top Dawg Entertainment president has been working on his own music instead of running his label.

Last year, Punch launched a new hip-hop collective called A Room Full of Mirrors, which he said was formed as he was busy working on his solo album. In an interview with Daylyt, who is part of A Room Full of Mirrors, Vlad appeared to express doubt that Punch could successfully be a rapper and run his label at the same time.

In the clip below, which is titled, “Daylyt Breaks Down TDE’s Power Structure: Top Snaps a Finger and It’s War,” Daylyt explains the power structure of the label. prompting Vlad to question why he’s working own his own music.

“Why is he taking time out from his real job from running this very powerful, successful label to be sitting in the studio, rapping and taking the time out on a project at that point wasn’t very viable,” Vlad asks, to which Daylyt says the label “throws curveballs that strike every time.” Vlad, however, disagrees, saying,  “Hmmm, not always.”

“There’s a number of artists on TDE that really, haven’t had a lot of financial success. … Not everyone’s doing Kendrick numbers, or SZA numbers,” Vlad adds.

After the clip made its way online this week, Punch made sure to address Vlad’s comments in a post he shared on his social media.

“Aye champ (@djvlad)… These headlines you use are very deceptive and misleading,” Punch wrote. “I get it, you need something catchy for the bait, but be careful, it can be damaging. Also don’t ever question what I do in that matter and with that tone. Black people are in general, super creative and innovative and can do more than one thing (and at a high level).”

Punch also suggested that just because he’s in another rap group, it doesn’t mean he won’t have time to run TDE. “Basically we can chew gum and walk at the same time my guy,” he continued. “I can create a marketing plan with SZA and then go rap with AROOMFULLOFMIRRORS. Sincerely, Punch, the President/Rapper.”
