Def Jam Announces Joint Venture With Logic's BobbyBoy Records

In a message to his fans on his Instagram, Logic has announced a joint venture with Def Jam Recordings for a label of his own entitled BobbyBoy Records, which was previously known as Elysium Records. 

"I've decided to change the title of Elysium Records to BobbyBoy Records," he explained in the clip he posted. "And the reason I'm gonna do this is because I really feel like BobbyBoy's become an empire, from books, film, television... It's just really been a beautiful creative space, and I want that name and that brand to mean something. So I'd rather have all of my endeavors kind of in one place."

He continued, "So we've got some artists, we've got some new artists." While he said they're not ready to announce the new signings just yet, he told fans to "holla at your boy, send me your mixtape." In a statement about the new joint venture, Logic added, "Def Jam has been my home for years, and now standing by them side by side as a businessman is incredible."

BobbyBoy Records launches with a roster including John Lindahl, Damnian Lemar Hudson, and Big Lenbo.

"Logic has proven himself to be an incredibly talented, instinctive and prolific artist, writer, and producer," chairman and CEO of Def Jam Paul Rosenberg said. "The success of our partnership is rooted in our collective belief in Bobby's creative vision and his talented team."

Earlier this year it was announced that Sony Music joined forces with Logic's manager Chris Zarou for a new imprint. It is unclear if VMG is still managing Logic, but Complex has reached out for comment.
