Lil Durk has announced the release date of his new album 7220, which will see him face off against Kanye West’s highly anticipated Donda 2.
The Chicago rapper first announced 7220 last year, but he finally confirmed its release date on Twitter in the early hours of Monday (Feb. 7). “My album drop same day as YE 2/22/22,” he tweeted. Durk was one of the many collaborators on Kanye’s Donda album, appearing alongside Vory on “Jonah.”
His announcement comes less than two weeks after Ye announced when Donda 2 is expected to arrive. Curiously, the Feb. 22, 2022 release date falls on a Tuesday, which is not the traditional album release day. He announced the date alongside an image of his childhood home up in flames as a billboard, and added that it will be executive produced by Future.
Kanye famously missed the release date for the first Donda album multiple times, so it remains to be seen if he’ll stick to schedule. Recently, he’s spent a lot of time making his divorce from Kim Kardashian a public matter on Instagram, and expressing his frustration at his daughter North appearing on TikTok.
Lil Durk, meanwhile, announced his North American tour in support of 7220 last month. Kicking off April 8 in Phoenix, the 17-date tour will wrap with a May 2 show in his hometown.
