Harry Styles was robbed at knifepoint in London last month, and now he's explained what went down in an interview with Howard Stern. The incident took place on Valentine's Day, and while the musician and actor was unharmed, it undoubtedly left him shaken-up.
"Yes, I was robbed on Valentine’s Day," he explained to Stern, as BuzzFeed noted. "I was walking home from a friend’s house. I’m five minutes from home, and I see this group of guys who all got their hoods up and their faces covered and stuff and I was like, 'That’s a bit weird.' I turn my music off and I'm walking up the street and I keep turning around. The guys cross the road and I'm like, 'That's weird.' Then, I'm walking up and hear shuffling of feet, trying to catch up to me. So I cross the street, and they cross the street."
From this point, he immediately thought, "Oh fuck's sake, I think I'm about to get robbed." The guys asked to talk to him, and then asked if he smoked weed to which he said no. They then proceeded to surround him and asked what he had on him. He told them he had cash, which he gave to them, and then they noticed his headphones and asked what it was plugged into.
"I pull out my phone and I'm thinking, 'OK, this is really annoying, but I'll wipe it and get a new phone,'" Styles continued. "And then the guy's like, 'Unlock your phone,' and the other one pulls his shirt up and he's got a knife sticking in his pants. I just said, 'I'm sorry mate, I can't. I can't unlock my phone.' And the guy's like, 'You got 10 seconds,' and he starts counting them down and I'm like, 'Fuck, am I going to unlock my phone?"
In the end he noticed two cars coming, so he ran away and attempted to stop both of them. Neither of the drivers let him in or bothered to help, so he "ran back toward the village area" where he lives. "I guess because they had some cash and stuff they ended up just turning around," he said.
Elsewhere in the interview, he also touched upon Taylor Swift writing songs about their past relationship. "I think it's like flattering," he said. "Even if the song isn't that flattering, you still spent time on it and ultimately, using Taylor as an example, she's a great songwriting. So, at least they're good songs."
