50 Cent appeared on The Breakfast Club recently, where he addressed his strained relationship with his son, Marquise Jackson.
When the topic of Marquise suggesting he wants to sit down for a talk with his father was brought up, 50 said, “No he doesn’t.”
“See, Charlamagne, you would call me. You don’t call TMZ to say you want to sit down. Think about it, man. You know, he wants some attention, and it’s okay he can have as much of that as he wants,” he added.
Explaining his thoughts on the situation further, Fif suggested that Marquise has been “trained” to believe what he said in his recent TMZ interview “for a long time.”
“You don’t just wake up and say, ‘Oh well I don’t believe what I’ve been believing forever,’” he continued. “When I said that he’s entitled, really it’s his Mom’s entitlement but it’s been filtered. I told you I was giving half a million dollars a year, they go through the paperwork they see half a million dollars a year. At that point, she still was expecting more. This is why I took out child support. You don’t usually sign up for child support, like, I took myself to child support. Because she wasn’t understanding that I’m already giving you more than you’re supposed to get.”
50 added that he doesn’t feel the “pressure or resentment that men feel with child support,” because he wants to take care of his children “when the problems happen.”
Marquise turned 26 this month, and Fif agreed with Angela Yee’s comparison to that of Power Book III: Raising Kanan. “It’s really like him, the kid has been sheltered,” he said. “If you mailed someone a million dollars, right, and [they] have zero respect for you, how much you think you got to give them before they have a little bit?”
Fif and Marquise have been publicly feuding ever since the latter called out the former for not spending enough time with him. In a post shared on Instagram earlier this month, Marquise offered to pay his father $6,700 (the same as one month of his child support) for 24 hours of his time. In response, Fif trolled his son, and Marquise went to TMZ to say that he’s eager for a sit down to “restore the situation.”
Earlier in the interview, at the 5:50 mark, 50 discussed his decision to wind down his relationship with Starz in hopes of working as a TV producer at another network or streamer. “I got three different offers I’m looking at now,” said Fif, who first started working with Starz with the arrival of Power in 2014. He didn’t drop any names, but he’s been actively pitching projects to Lionsgate, the parent company of Starz.
