Brace yourselves, prom season is coming. As droves of high school seniors scramble to lock down a date for the most important social event of their stupid blossoming lives, tactics have never been more extreme. These days, it’s not enough to simply walk up to someone, and ask them to prom with your words. In 2015, that would be social suicide. If you have any hope in hell of bringing the most bangin’ babe in your class to prom, you simply must stage an elaborate “happening,” in the form of some kind of parade, art installation, or interpretive dance.
Promposals are real, and yes, they are bizarre.
Spending the afternoon stumbling through the deep web of teenage adulation was somewhat of a revelatory experience—it seems the youth of today are incapable of expressing any sort of emotion outside the context of a Drake song. There’s even an app for that.
The number of Drake-themed proposals we found is staggering, but not surprising. From “Hold On” to “Come Thru,” the scriptures of the 6 God are the commandments of an ideal relationship. So you can save your “Drake’s the type of [person] who would plan a Drake-themed promposal” jokes. Drake isn’t a rapper—he’s a broker for human interaction.
We crept social media, and found ten Drake-themed promposals. You only prom once.
