Sampling might not be one of the "elements" of hip-hop, but it's long been a staple of the genre since its inception. And as any head will tell you, one of the most widely sampled records is the Incredible Bongo Band's "Apache." The song's break has been used time and time again—seriously, just google it—and soon, its influence will hit another medium.
Sample This is a new film that tells the story of "Apache," how and why it was created, and the artform it launched. The movie features interviews with members of the band along with Questlove, Grandmaster Caz, Afrika Bambaataa and other living legends.
