Mixtape: Kool A.D., of Das Racist, "The Palm Wine Drinkard"

If you're of the Das Racist faithful, you no doubt heard that each member of the trio was gearing up to drop a solo mixtape this year. Even though Heems has been the most prominent in terms of leaks to promote his own project, it's Kool A.D. who comes through with the first release.

Anyone expecting anything rap-heavy on the mixtape, The Palm Wine Drinkard, just might be surprised by the oddball experimentation, but don't let that turn you off. There's some low-key progressive genius shit going on here, particularly on the title track and its blend of Outkast's "Spottieottiedopaliscious" and Jimi Hendrix's version of "The Star-Spangled Banner."
