Taylor Swift directs the latest video from the Lover era.

On Thursday, Swift released the video for "The Man," the fourth single from her 2019 album.

As she explained in response to a fan during VEVO Q&A, she was enamored with the process of directing.

"I loved the months of prep, meetings, locating scouting, set design, mood boards, deciding every detail down to the wardrobe each actress/actor wore, and working with them on set," Swift said.

In a Vogueinterview published the month of Lover's release, Swift teased the track itself as one in which she "plays with the idea of perception." The song, she explained, was inspired by wondering how she might be written about if she were a man.

"If I had made all the same choices, all the same mistakes, all the same accomplishments, how would it read?" she said at the time.

Earlier this month, Swift announced that she had extended her partnership with Lucian Grainge and the Universal Music team by signing a deal with Universal Music Publishing Group. When announcing the publishing deal, Swift said she was "proud" to have the opportunity to work with Jody Gerson, the first woman to run a major music publishing company.

"Jody is an advocate for women’s empowerment and one of the most-respected and accomplished industry leaders," she said.
