With a new year comes new anthems and Amindi is kicking off the decade right with her Kari Faux-assisted "Love Em Leave Em". The follow-up to her infectious 2017 hit with Tessellated, "Pine & Ginga" (also produced by Valleyz), "Love Em Leave Em" is the punchy, toe-tappin' reminder to chase those bags. Both the song and the visual, which was directed by Mariah Winter, are an amalgamation of all the things the artist loves: Kari Faux, who she's long been a fan of, as well the genres she draws her inspiration from, such as rap, soul, reggae, dancehall, R&B and cinema.
Amindi told Complex: "When I was in middle school, I had this thick obsession with Tim Burton, Tarantino, and John Hughes movies, which is kind of a random mix of mainstream directors, but I just loved '80s/'90s rom-coms like Say Anything. That's kind of where I drew inspiration from for this video, at least for the stereo/balcony moment. I wanted a cinematic representation of girls being about their money and prioritizing their bread in the same way boys do. I just love movies and I wanted this music video to feel like a short film with a happy ending for the girls and a not-so-happy ending for the boys. But who cares? This isn't about boys! This is about the money, about the bread, about bags."
The visual sees the artist playfully counting her coins while being pursued before Kari Faux delivers a delectable set of bars and she links up with her girls.
