Just like the 'Bristol sound' or any of the other cities we associate genres or subgenres with, the West Coast has its own style, but it's rarely easy to put your finger on. You just know it when you hear it. So hit play on "Tangerine", the calm and breezy new single from LA-based soul auteur Tim Atlas, and you'll hear that sound immediately.

Faded synths give the track its classic soul sound while his understated vocal style gently picks its way across the instrumental. Bringing that vibe to life is the laid-back visual from director Joseph Diaz who frames Atlas and his cast of characters in a warm and fuzzy orange and films them in a way that makes it difficult to place the video in a particular era; it could be 30 years ago, it could be last week.
