Four of Apple Music's biggest Latin music playlists will receive a visual makeover. The streaming platform has teamed up with four mural artists as part of a push to celebrate the diversity of Latin music with new custom artwork for the RGTN Fire, Trap Kingz, Puro Jefe, and Puro Pop playlists.
With artwork created by David "Don Rimx" Sepulveda, David Flores, CIMI, and the Twin Walls Mural Company, the new playlist images will be rolled out over the next four weeks starting Monday (Sept. 16). RGTN Fire, which is guest-curated by Daddy Yankee and Puerto Rican Olympic tennis champion Monica Puig, is the first to receive an update.
"The inspiration for this mural was the harmonious celebration of the Latino culture through colors and sounds and the efforts we make to project the very best of us as a people," said Sepulveda, who worked on RGTN Fire. "Being afforded the opportunity to collaborate with Apple Music on this piece, was a great testament to the career that I've built representing my heritage."
David Flores, who has worked with the likes of J Balvin and Bad Bunny, created the new Trap Kingz playlist artwork, while El Paso, Texas-based artist Jesus "CIMI" Alvarado put a new spin on the Puro Jefe artwork.
"We wanted to work with Apple Music on this initiative because it is an exciting unique way to integrate murals normally seen outside into the digital realm," said Puro Pop mural artists Twin Walls Mural Company (Marina Perez-Wong and Elaine Chu). "We were inspired by the colors of Puro Pop and Latin America to create a mural that pops with bright saturated colors and imagery. We wanted the mural to literally pop out at the viewer with the same energy as the music."
