Shortly before Twitter went out, Rihanna took to the social platform to joke about her fans not-so-patiently awaiting her upcoming album R9.

The multi-hyphenate implied that she never said what month in 2019 her album would be dropping, but her fans preemptively decided that it must be arriving in July.

Rihanna's loyal fanbase, a.k.a. The Navy, has gotten rather angsty in recent months given the singer has yet to release new solo music. And while many celebs claim to stay away from internet comments and miscellaneous banter, Rihanna knows her fans are awaiting an imminent drop, and she's avoiding them as a result.

Wale posted a photo to Instagram Thursday informing his fans that his next project will drop in three days. Riri then snuck into the comments section with a series of arm-flexing emojis and a "let's GO **hides from Navy***." In May, Riri told T Magazine that the upcoming drop, which fans have dubbed R9, will classify as a reggae album and likely premiere under the fan-given name.

"I'm about to call it that probably, 'cause they have haunted me with this 'R9R9, when is R9 coming out?'" she said at the time. "How will I accept another name after that's been burned into my skull?"

Although Rihanna has had quite the successful 2019 so far, with various lingerie drops and a clothing line debut, loyal followers can be ruthless when they don't get the content.

Naturally, her devout fanbase was quick to react to her jokes, many of whom were not amused.
