Tomorrow (July 12), emerging singer, songwriter and producer McEvoy will release his fifth official single and first of the year, "In The Dark". The new track features notes of Sampha and James Blake merge with '80s synth pop and new wave moodiness, all blended into a piece of progressive R&B that's as dark as it is emotive. Thematically, it's as dark as the title suggests, dipping into topics like sex, death and addiction, all told through the romanticised lens of youth. While it would be too soon to expect an album from McEvoy this year (the dust has barely settled since he released his debut, These Are The Moments, last year), hearing him continue the soulful, atmospheric tones set on the LP is more than welcome.
