Vince Staples and Azealia Banks Exchange Words on Twitter Over Failed Collaboration

Can’t we all just get along (and make music together)?

Vince Staples and Azealia Banks had their misunderstanding spill out all over Twitter as the two engaged in a back-and-forth over a failed collaboration before turning into a disagreement about their miscommunication.

This whole mess started earlier today when Azealia mentioned Staples in a series of stream of consciousness tweets.

I’m not righteous I’m a Crip https://t.co/jMwUI3lqdG

Banks doubled down by mentioning Staples again.

You didn’t ask for a feature you asked for me to mumble you a flow for the song for you and the spice girl was doing. I still fuc wit you tho you one of my favorite rappers. https://t.co/cxNnOEdzJF

Vince was eventually made aware of Banks tweeting about him, but things turned left real quick.

If you want a verse don’t ask the gays ask the Crips cause they got a direct line. But if you do wanna ask the gays ask my uncle Keith or @VonnieD_ them my day 1s. @MSAZEALIABANKS

Azealia told Vince to stop mentioning her, adding, “I don't need you to defend me nor do you need to throw my name out there when you need to virtue signal about how righteous of a brother you are then dip when I ask to collab.”

Relax with all the hostility against AB tho. My Twitter is a safe space for black people.

That’s when their exchange really hit into high gear.

You didn’t have to do all that you could’ve just sent the song. Lol We good tho no reason to get disrespectful. https://t.co/I5G960PMsa

Vince did try to deescalate the situation, but Azealia wouldn’t relent.

Azealia transitioned their dispute over Staples changing his number after they spoke, and not returning her DMs.

She wasn’t over it.

Vince tried moving their conversation by sending her a DM on Instagram, but she continued to apply unnecessary pressure on him.

Now it appears over. For now.
