Lil Yachty Says White Cop Stopped Him Because 'He Literally Just Doesn’t Believe It’s My Car'

A white police officer decided to pull over Lil Yachty in what seems to have been a racially biased stop, according to the 21-year-old rapper. "I️ didn’t do anything wrong," he tweeted on Tuesday.

A white police officer decided to pull over Lil Yachty in what seems to have been a racially motivated stop, according to the 21-year-old rapper.

“Wow a white cop really just pulled me over just to ask me for the bill of sale on my car because he didn’t believe it was mine,” he tweeted Tuesday afternoon. “I didn’t do anything wrong. He literally just doesn’t believe it’s my car.”

Lil Boat didn’t specify where he was stopped or what car he was driving at the time of the incident, but judging by these tweets the Quality Control artist was able to show the officer his documents and move along.

This incident emphasizes how fame and money doesn’t protect young black men and women from the frequently racist behavior exhibited by law enforcement. If Yachty was white would he have been stopped? Probably not. If he didn’t have proof he owned his vehicle would things have been worse?

In less depressing news, Yachty recently celebrated his birthday, and to mark the occasion released his annual Birthday Mix on Soundcloud. It includes never-before-heard material with Chief Keef, Trippie Redd, Gunna, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, and more.
