The Los Angeles County coroner has ruled that cardiovascular disease was the main culprit and that idiopathic epilepsy was also partially responsible, according to a recent Chicago Tribune report. The Chicago rapper found out he had epilepsy shortly after he stopped taking Xanax pills, about eight months before he passed away.
Fredo had been given a prescription for Keppra to treat his seizures, but was still experiencing “episodes frequently every month…that tended to appear as a cluster of seizures,” the report stated. “(He) did not seek medical intervention after each seizure episode.”
Fredo had a few health scares before his death. Last October, he was placed in the hospital due to kidney and liver failure. He was thinking about going to rehab.
“Hopefully I can be the face to sho niggas to slow down an we got our whole life ahead of us fuck being rock stars gettin high I got ptsd,” he wrote on Twitter. “I was running from my old life tryna get high didn't want to face them demons...I'm getting help I might just go to rehab.” Three months later, Fredo was pronounced dead after his girlfriend found him unresponsive in his Los Angeles home.
