The visuals for Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy cut “Ring” featuring Kehlani dropped on Monday morning out of the blue. It’s the first release since the Bronx rapper gave birth to her daughter Kulture earlier this summer, but it wasn’t just a surprise for fans...Cardi had no idea the video was being released.
“I’m a little pissed, because I woke up this morning and I got on Instagram like, ‘What’s going on today?’ and when I get on Instagram, I see the 'Ring’ video came out,” she said in a video posted to Instagram. “And you know, I’m happy for the response it’s getting but it’s just like, I didn’t even get to see final edits for the video. I didn’t even know it was supposed to even come out today.”
Even Kehlani was slow to promote the song, waiting for Cardi to wake up and post about it first.
It’s wild that Cardi wasn't notified of when her music video was dropping, but there is one theory. “I hope y’all enjoy it, I guess. Thank you. The 'Ring’ video is out with Kehlani,” Cardi said on IG, before joking that it was actually a Russian hack. “Who did that? It was those Russians! Those damn Russians that helped Trump. I knew it! I knew it is!”
