You are presently less than a month away from a new Bun B album.

Bun slyly confirmed a March 16 release date for the tentatively titled Return of the Trill in a recent episode of his #TrillMealz cooking series. During a one-minute session on how to craft seafood patties with potato salad and vegetables, Bun dropped the date. "Oh yeah, new album alert," he said after placing the patties in hot grease, pointing to a handwritten note reading Return of the Trill. The album is also briefly mentioned in a recent romantic advice feature that Bun and wife Queenie did for Houston's CultureMap.

The most recent Bun studio album was Trill OG: The Epilogue back in 2013. Last year, he linked up with Parquet Courts for the criminally underrated "Captive of the Sun."

Shortly after that track's release, Bun discussed his then-in-progress new album during a SXSW chat with HipHopDX.

"I didn't have a record deal anymore," he said of stepping back into the studio. "So for me, it was refreshing to be in a position to make music because I wanted to, not because I had to, because I was signed to a record company [and] I took an advance from a record company. It's really about the freedom of being able to record. So for a while, I just didn't record at all and just laid back, watched my grandkids grow up."

Then, Bun added, Queenie hit him with a reminder. "One day my wife tapped me on my shoulder and was like, 'Uh, professor, you do have a day job,'" he said. "So we got back in the lab." 🙏
