After serving nine months for weapons charge, Kevin Gates was released Wednesday from East Moline Correctional Center in Illinois on parole.

As first reported by TMZ, Gates will be on mandatory supervision and he can't possess any firearms.

Gates’ parole date was June 22, 2018, with a projected discharge date of June 22, 2019. In late December, those dates changed to Jan. 10, 2018, with his projected discharge date without parole is January 2019.

While behind bars, Gates was still looking out for his fans. His wife, Dreka Gates, was asked by him to put together a project, and she wanted to make sure it was perfect.

"BTW working on Kevin's new project right now and I'm not going to lie, I'm nervous as F b/c I'm not getting any input from him & he's fully entrusted me w/everything so there's a lot of pressure!" she wrote on Twitter. "I respect real artists and their artistry and to be making ALL of the decisions is scary but rest assured the music is always fire as F!"

Gates’ last project was By Any Means 2 that included singles “No Love” and “What If.” PnB Rock appears on “Beautiful Scars,” one of the last songs he dropped before sharing it in full.

Earlier today, he posted on Instagram a photo with the words “I’m Him,” which could possibly mean a new song is on the way.
