Tommy Genesis is all about pushing the boundaries, whether it be in fashion or through her music. The rapper out of Vancouver, Canada does just that with the self-directed and edited video for her latest single, "Tommy."
The song, produced by Charlie Heat, features Genesis going the aggressive and confident route: "Nobody fuck with Tommy/Nobody's high like Tommy/Nobody rock like Tommy/All these bitches get off me." That attitude shines through in visual form where Genesis bares all for a bathtub scene, and follows that up by serving other provocative looks for the camera.
“In the past I've always directed and edited my own videos so I was happy when I got to do the same with 'Tommy,'" she told Complex via email. "It's definitely more explicit than I had anticipated making but I think it depicts my sexuality pretty accurately. What I want people to know, most importantly, is nobody put me up to it. I have full control over my art and my music.”
