Jay Z surprised fans with a new slice of spoken word Wednesday. "Dream. On." premiered via Tidal and sees Jay looking back on his days in apartment 5C in Marcy Houses:
I'm from where dreaming ain't allowed/Especially when you're dreaming aloud
In the accompanying visual, fans are given an intimate tour of an apartment decorated with memories of Jay's past. Watch "Dream. On." in full via YouTube above, or check it out on Tidal:
This latest Jay release arrives in anticipation of this coming weekend's Made in America Festival at Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jay, J. Cole, Run the Jewels, Migos, Solange, Vic Mensa, Pusha T, DJ Mustard, 21 Savage, Stormzy, Mannequin Pussy, and many more are set to perform.
Earlier this week, set times were announced. The Budweiser-sponsored festival will also be getting the live coverage treatment on Tidal.
The initial announcement of Jay's headlining slot on the festival back in May was key in the sparking of new album rumors. At the time, 4:44—the follow-up to Jay's 2013 album Magna Carta Holy Grail—had not been announced. In the months since that fateful day, Jay has released a fleet of critically acclaimed 4:44 visuals and announced a new tour.
