When it comes to Black history in Canada, our homegrown heroes, revolutionaries, and talent get overshadowed by our neighbours to the south. While we know all about Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X and Frederick Douglas, we don’t know much about the Black people in Canada who helped shaped this nation.

This Black History Month, we at Complex Canada hope to change that a little bit by commemorating a different history maker every Friday in February and raising Canada’s Black history IQ just a little bit.
